A simple Embroidery machine using an XY belt and pinion drive to drive a hoop under a standard sewing machine. Needle timing, machine power and stepper control are all provided by a PIC processor. A tablet provides the higher level formatting required for communicating with the PIC chip.

Large format 1200X1500mm OX Build using Stainless Steel plates, dual belt configuration. Limit switches is a mix of micro switches and NPN Proximity switches. Electronics based on parallel break out board, Long Motor Stepper drivers (Chinese stuff) and motors controlled by Mach3. Spindel will be Kress 1050.

The C-Beam Prefab Untitled is designed as the cartesian compliment to the C-Beam XL. With the exception of requiring a couple more 1000mm C-Beams and lead screws, the build requires a minimum of additional parts. The primary intention of the build is to maximize the cutting envelope while still staying within the sweet spot for C-beam rigidity. This design can easily be modified and allows for further custom structural components to be cut with the initial build platform.

A design in progress, to 3D carve two-part Aluminium injection moulds for Soft Plastic Lures and Lead Jigs, so I can prototype some of the concepts rattling around in my head. All Openbuilds parts where possible, 1000x500mm footprint, 0.8kw Water-cooled Spindle?, High Torque Stepper?,Smoothieboard?, I still have no idea. As a newbie to the CNC world, any wisdom would be welcome to take this from just a idea into reality so I can start playing with all this awesome stuff. Thanks in advance

I am planning on building the machine largely unmodified from the reference design. I will be building the machine an axis at a time as I need to spread out costs over time.

Small Mill type CNC machine, using C-Beams and V-Slot rail, bundle packs as a starter point. I needed a smallish desktop machine to fit a pretty narrow use case for my business, but the machine itself has larger applications to the OB community. Currently I will run the Dewalt 611 router on the Z axis, but have plans to add in a brushless RC style motor. So this design does have room to go either way easily.

Although this build is typically Mach3 related there is no reason it cannot be adapted for use with any machine control software which provides a PWM spindle control output. As an addition, an option has now been added which will enable the interface to manually control outrunner speed without the need for a PWM signal.

The UltiBots CB3030 CNC uses C-Beam, V-Slot and an extruded aluminum T-Slot work table. This allows 6mm T-Nuts, step clamps and blocks to secure materials to the work surface. The all metal design makes the use of a mister possible.

This is a simple, yet rugged design, weighing only 6 lbs and with 13x13x14" volume with a 8x8x6" build area. While assembly is pretty simple, the small size and rigidity of the design make shipping assembled printers attractive.

So we have new plates, stronger motors, belt drive reduction, but what should we do with them? In this article you might find the answer you were looking for as we took an “old” C-Beam machine and started to upgrade the X/Z body and added more torque and precision to the Z-axis.

Currently I have Velleman/3Drag K8200 modified and CNC machine self built and wanted to use both to make new 3D printer. After looking at different designs I liked Voron a lot and have decided to go that way. Currently I have ordered majority of parts and build shall start soon. Basing this build on the C-Beam machine XL on the parts store, but added a few things to make it more like the C-Beam XXLarge "Tank" by Dollarz81. Going with the Dewalt 611 instead of a water cooled spindle at first. May change down the road. Using a Panucat Gradus M1 controller with BigFoot drivers.

With the focus always on larger builds I wanted to focus on a desktop PCB milling machine that fulfills the average users desktop needs at an entry level cost. Design considerations will allow expandable capabilities to include 3D printing and any other functions a small form Cartesian robot can perform. This is a simple cantilevered 3D Printer. It is designed around the OB V-Slot linear rails. I am trying to simplify this as much as possible, all rails will be 250mm long and only one will require cutting (it will be cut in half). The printer will use all OB wheels and gantry plates where applicable, all other plates can be either Laser Cut or 3D Printed (files will be provided for both). I am not set on electronic as of yet, but plan to use a single control board...no Arduino/Ramps control.
